The Tallman Co. Helps Build Future Leaders

December 13, 2012

For the past ten plus years, AD Plumbing Affiliate The Tallman Co., Inc., has been lending a hand to help the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). This year they aided in the annual popcorn fundraiser in which the Boy Scouts sell popcorn to collect funds to support the whole year of scouting.

November 13 of this year, a freight line delivered a little over 4,000 pounds of popcorn to their Florence, AL location. The Tallman Co. unloaded the freight and let the Scout leadership use their warehouse to store the supply. From there, they broke down the shipment into individual orders for each troop and/or cub pack to distribute among the groups as they came in for pick up.

“It's a pretty intense couple of days until it's all gone. Our warehouse works out pretty well. We can unload at dock height and then the scouts can back their trailers, pick-ups, and SUV's at ground level into the side door to load up. It works particularly well if it is raining. They can back right into the building and load up in the dry dock,” shared Doug Tallman, President/CEO, The Tallman Co., Inc.

The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.

For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
