Universal Lighting Collects Coats for the Homeless

November 22, 2016

Universal Lighting Technologies' employees are making a difference and giving back to the community we live, work and play in. We had a recent Coat Drive that provided much needed warmth by donating 18 winter coats, 22 hoodies, 30+ pairs of socks, and many blankets. Additionally, employees helped a local organization provide a hot Thanksgiving meal over this past weekend.

Fellow outreach workers were able to check on "tentbound" individuals. They observed the typical living conditions of the Nashville tent homeless, and were reminded of the cold and difficulty -- including drying laundry outside their tents which is typically the only clothes they own other than what they are wearing.

All of this was due to one employee taking the initiative to pull the donations and service together. Renee Williams is a Customer Service Representative here at corporate. Not only is she knowledgeable about lighting, but she is also generous with her time and service to the community.

Although the Coat Drive has officially ended there are always needs to fill around the Holidays and ways that you can donate. Through an organization called, Home Street Home Ministries, the Universal corporate team was able to assist our homeless in this most difficult time of year for them.
