Border States Completes Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity Build

November 22, 2022

FARGO, N.D. — This summer, Border States sponsored a Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity (LAHFH) home for a deserving family in the Fargo area. With help from volunteers, a community of giving hearts and industry vendors, LAHFH and their partner family, the Adams, celebrated the completion of the home with a dedication ceremony on October 25. The family anticipates moving into their new home by Thanksgiving.

"This Habitat build has been uplifting, fun and fulfilling. I’m so proud of the employee-owners of Border States and the vendor partners who helped as well,” said David White, CEO. “Seeing this deserving family move into their home is really gratifying — knowing the build has made a difference in a family's life has certainly brought us as much joy as the Adam family.”

"The Habitat organization is grateful to Border States for creating transformational change in the lives of Penina Adam and her children," said Jim Nelson, Executive Director for LAHFH. "Your actions have lifted this family — and generations of the Adam family — out of the cycle of renting and chronic poverty. The Border States staff gave freely of their time by volunteering over 1,200 hours and made the financial commitment necessary to fund and build the house entirely by themselves — in just six months! We can’t thank Border States enough for the partnership and support they’ve provided to Habitat on this project!"

Welcome home, Adam family.
